The KA-52S is an upgraded variant of the Russian KA-52 "Alligator" attack helicopter, developed by Kamov. The original KA-52, introduced in the mid-1990s, featured a unique coaxial rotor system, which enhanced manoeuvrability and eliminated the need for a tail rotor. The KA-52S, unveiled around 2015, was designed with improved night operation capabilities, enhanced avionics, and additional armour. It also included compatibility with precision-guided munitions and upgraded communication systems, making it suitable for both land and naval operations. The āSā variant was developed in response to combat experience, particularly from operations in Syria.
